The IRS has issued guidance extending the deadline to furnish the Affordable Care Act (ACA) reporting forms (1094-B/C and 1095-B/C) to employees and covered individuals. The original due date for the forms was January 31, 2020 and they have been extended to March 2, 2020.
The deadline to file the reporting forms with the IRS has remain unchanged. Paper forms are due February 28, 2020 and electronically filed forms are due March 31, 2020.
Finally, the Good Faith Compliance Standard has been renewed! Under this standard, the IRS will not assess a penalty for incomplete or inaccurate information on the ACA reporting forms if a filer can show that it completed the forms in good faith. This relief only applies if the forms were TIMELY FILED!
