Starting now and throughout the year, clients need to be proactive about completing form W-9 (request for taxpayer identification number and address) for any sub-contractor, attorney or outside service provider, or for anyone who will require a form 1099-MISC for the year. Attached below is form W-9, as well as guidelines for those required to receive a 1099.
Being proactive throughout the year will alleviate having to track down this information in December or January when Somerset is preparing your 1099s.
